UPDATE TO THIS BLOG POST: A BOIL WATER NOTICE was posted (see the Home page to this website) at 2:00 pm today, effective for 24 hours, following the repair of this break.
Just before 7 am this morning, during a severe weather event, lightning struck a tree on CR 40 near Cypress Ridge Subdivision. This strike traveled down the tree and caused the the root system to basically explode. This in turn broke our 6 inch main in two spots, which is buried at a depth of four feet.
As soon as the weather allowed, a locate request was called in for the other nearby utilities in order to avoid damaging any fiber optic or other lines, and repairs began. Once the repairs have been completed and the lines have been flushed, we will update members and advise that they boil their potable water for the next 24 hours.
